When Ed Miliband became Leader of the Labour Party he set out to take a new approach to politics. He established a policy review, led by Liam Byrne - a fresh look at our policy in every area, consulting directly from the British people and Labour members about what matters to them.
This has involved unprecedented levels of engagement activity – nearly 4 million contacts with members of the public, 70 public events with members of the Shadow Cabinet, and over 16,000 people taking part online.
At Annual Conference, Labour published four documents setting out what people have told us to date, detailing many of the challenges identified along the way and examples of the ideas and thoughts which have been fed in.
These documents will help to inform our policy development process at the next stage, acting as a catalyst for discussion. The four documents are:
Towards a New Economy
Fulfilling the Promise of Britain
Restoring Responsibility, Strengthening our Communities
Britain’s Role in the World
To aid discussion and consultation on these four documents, the Labour Party has produced four summary guides, setting out the key themes in each document and suggested questions for discussion.
Towards a New Economy: Discussion Guide
Fulfilling the Promise of Britain: Discussion Guide
Restoring Responsibility, Strengthening our Communities: Discussion Guide
Britain’s Role in the World: Discussion Guide
